Background History

Kyaukse University (Established in 2002)


            Education is the foundation for Myanmar’s sustainable social and economic development. The aims and objectives of opening Kyaukse University were relief from high costs of living, studying conveniently for under and post graduate students in Kyaukse District, Nwahtogyi Township in Myingyan District, Pyinmana, Leway and Tutkon Townships in Yamethin District and getting easy access and development of surrounding areas of Kyaukse University. The location of Kyaukse University is situated in Singaing Township, on the eastern side of Tawma village, on the western side of the Mount Shwemyintin and on the eastern side of four furlong away from Yangon-Mandalay High-way Road. For the construction of Kyaukse University, Chairman of the State Peace and Development Council, Senior General Than Shwe had designated the utilization of land for the construction of Kyaukse University on 28 May 2001. Shwe Nanthit Construction Company had taken the tasks of Kyaukse University’s construction projects. Kyaukse University was officially opened on 27 June 2002. At the first opening of Kyaukse University, the acting rector was U Myo Tint Swe. Therefore, from 2002 to today, the rectors in service were U Myo Tint Swe 2002-2005, U Khin Maung Kyaw from 2005-2006 to 2007-2008, Dr. Myint Lwin from 2007-2008 to 2018 and Dr. Aung Khin Myint from 2018-2019 to today.
